Yes.. we took pre-marital classes.. we had to because the catholic church required it.
Low and behold though.. everything we learned and everything that was said and agreed upon at that time did not actually pan out in the long run. I am on the verge of divorce now…
We did’t go to counseling. We did Pre Cana, which is more like coaching. lol
We went to pre-marriage counseling.
I highly recommend it to everyone!
Give you a good foundation, cause if you are under 30/first time married- you don’t have a clue.
We had to go through pre marital counseling or our pastor wouldn’t do the ceremony, it was a few meetings with him on marriage, what its about it takes give and take etc. We do not currently go to counseling, sometimes I thnk we should be we generally have a really good marriage and its mostly me not being able to overlook little things.
My wife and I did.
Congregational church. Was very relaxed. No prying, etc.
We did premarital counseling and it was one of the best things we did. It helped us finalize what our expectations in marriage were and really got down the pre-wedding jitters. We also learned a lot on conflict resolution between partners.
We do not go to traditional counseling. We do a monthly marriage workshop that is a bunch of couples together sharing how we manage our problems and helping get support on maintaining our marriage. It is just something we like to do so that we make sure we work on our marriage constantly. We have been happy since the beginning and are proactive in keeping it that way.
No, but I think it’s a good idea.
yes i did, he complained to the priest that my mashed potatoes were lumpy!
we divorced 16 yrs later, …(not cus of the potatoes, lol) we just got married way too young, i was only 20, him 22.
But its a good idea for sure
Nope. I know people that did that with a shrink… I think, what???? One couple I know did that with a therapist and they are as unhappy as f**k
Unless its a church requirement I think its a bad omen.
we got married in my childhood methodist church and our pastor required it. Afterwards we haven’t but marriage is hard sometimes the third party helps if you feel you can be honest about your relationship with each other and a third party
NO. If you need pre-marriage counseling then you shouldn’t be marrying that person!
