You talk about important issues and see how compatible you are with your answers. How you feel about children, family, responsibility. Where you see yourself 5, 10, 20 years from now. What are your goals and dreams? It will give you some food for thought and may help give you perspective on if you are ready for this type of commitment and if you have mutual goals. Be honest, you only have yourself to blame if you lie and it comes back to bite you later…..
Third party advise.
Hopefully it’ll bring you to your senses and you’ll be willing to even chew your own leg off to get out of this trap.
It’s a waste of time
when people get married who have never been married before, they are taken aback when it comes to living with another person. Counseling brings up subjects you never would ask, because you don’t know to ask them in the first place. Its better to ask them now then later!
they do an inventory and see where you match and discuss diferences. It’s worth it you learn from experienced people what to really expect and how to handle it.
it’s kinda a fun day, actually.
totally worth the time and (small) cost.
we did it in a small group.. of five couples and answered some questions… discussed… played some games… had one-on-one time… learnt some communication techniques… you can participate or not-participate as much as you want to… so it’s not awkward or embarrassing as some might imagine
it was really enjoyable and a good way to start getting prepared for marriage
